day 9...?

day nine of the 100 day movement for nationalism
1 more day and 10% of the movement will be complete.

what's my progress?
i only did applications part a and b (excluding human genome project) and read 3/4 of viruses. hmm might be because of the CIP thing thats going on last week and this coming week, but still... i wasted alot of time sleeping and slacking at home.

went for nil sine labore concert yesterday. i swear it was a totally last minute decision. at 5.30pm i was still at home contemplating whether should i go. it was really worth for money, because i didn't pay for it... and please, i'm not the only cheapskate one there, i bet there's around 100-200 VS guys who got free tickets, and not to say hostel people got free tickets too, and so did hans and his gang of CT workers councillors.

the concert was supposedly a vs-vjc joint concert. i think the only elements of vs was the substandard choir, prof edwin thumboo (who recited a poem -_-?) and the audience. x_x

everything else was VJC VJC VJC VJC VJC. the emcees, band, ensembles, musicians and only the vjc principal went on stage. one guy even tried to work the crowd by asking them to chant "VJ... VJ..." when there were at least 50% of VS guys around! and at the end of the concert, they did YO VJC cheer and the substandard, truncated, VJ unite cheer.

sad. what is world OVA coming to?

100 day movement

Well this 100 day movement sounds communist.
This started yesterday, and will end on 6 september... somewhere during prelims... i think.

How to waste away day 1 of the 100 day movement:
1) wake up late
2) start sorting your whole stacks of notes scattered at all 4 corners of your table, dog-eared, crumpled, torn, doodled, folded notes
3) file your bio and chem notes which seemed like eternity
4) feel tired (how weak am i?), so you go for lunch and then play games for 5 hours
5) go for a run, then eat dinner
6) go back to finish filing econs, math and GP
7) FILE OVERFLOW!
8) leave the files scattered all over your bedroom floor because you can't close them and place them on the shelves.
9) go to bed at 2am, wake up even later the next day

let's hope i finish reading part a and b of applications syllabus today so i can make the most out of tomorrow's intensive lecture (8-5 WTH?!)

oh damnit i think i'm going crazy already, and this 100 day movement seem like its heading straight towards failure. gg~

oh yeah, this is the 300th post. o_o i can't believe i blogged so much... over the past 3+ years...

yakusoku no chi

the promised land.

this is taken from final fantasy VII advent children OST composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
very gooood song. i like the lyrics and more importantly, the melody and the emotion of the song. makes me wanna QQ

lyrics...

Latin

Cur in gremio haeremus?
Cur poenam cordi parvo damus?

Stella nobis non concessit, non concessit
Stella nobis non concessit, non concessit

Venarum pulsus in terram fluens
Parvus, parvus pulsus

Cor mortem ducens
Vita mollis in stellam
redeunt
Animam sacrificare necesse est?

Cur in gremio haeremus?
Cur veniam petimus?
In terram fatali?

English Translation

Why do we stay in the cradle?
Why do we provide suffering to our little heart?

Our star did not leave us, did not leave us
Our star did not leave us, did not leave us

The pulse of veins flowing in the earth
Faint, faint pulse

Heart leading to death
And the weak life return to the planet
Is it necessary to sacrifice the soul?

Why do we stay in the cradle?
Why do we beg for mercy?
In the fatal earth?

oh well, the past 2-3 weeks i've been uber troubled. with a hell lot of things. so far this song and several other things like guitar and gym has helped me take my mind of these troublesome troubles. sighs. got back my a level cert today, and it reminded me of my PW B and chinese C. while everyone's all As and Bs.

and some (maybe just one) of my classmates are just freaking insensitive to the point of irritating. heck. i hope i can channel these negativity into positive drive to work hard for A's. but apparently there isn't much motivation for me to work. sad. and studies isn't the only thing i'm worried about. there's so much pressure piling on top of me man.

oh well, i just need to be positive. easier said than done.

---------------------------
update:

i'm now agnostic

i feel quite sad/ashamed to say but.. so well i've decided i don't really have the faith in God. don't even know it was genuine faith from the start. well i still hope to believe there is heaven and God and the bible is real, but it kinda seems quite distant from me, considering the circumstances and situations going on right now in my life. i really do do do do hope that i can proudly (and genuinely from the heart) call myself christian again. i'll still be attending church, maybe not youth worship though. i'll definitely keep myself open, and i'll hope/pray for a religious experience someday soon...

yellow ledbetter

"Yellow Ledbetter" is a song by the American rock band Pearl Jam. Featuring lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder and music co-written by bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Mike McCready, "Yellow Ledbetter" was selected by the band to be the second B-side to the 1992 single for the song "Jeremy", which was where it first appeared.[1] The song eventually found its way onto radio, peaking at number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song was included on the 2003 B-sides and rarities album, Lost Dogs, and on Pearl Jam's 2004 greatest hits album, rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991–2003).

"Yellow Ledbetter" was a Ten outtake and one of the first songs Pearl Jam wrote as a group.[2] McCready's guitar play on "Yellow Ledbetter" bears strong similarities to the guitar style of Jimi Hendrix with the mimicking of Hendrix's "May This Be Love" from the 1967 album, Are You Experienced, and "Little Wing" from the 1967 album, Axis: Bold as Love. The version of "Yellow Ledbetter" that was eventually released was the second take of the song.

"Yellow Ledbetter" is based on a I-V-IV chord progression in the key of E major. McCready plays his Stratocaster on the track in the style of Jimi Hendrix, incorporating hammerons and pulloffs into the subtle chord work. He makes expressive use of the guitar's whammy bar during the solo, bending notes to create a vacuum-like sound.

Without being released as a single, "Yellow Ledbetter" peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number 26 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1994. The song has managed to become a staple among fans of the band. Although the song has never been released on one of the band's studio albums, it remains to this day one of the band's most popular songs.

Steve Huey of Allmusic said that McCready's "airy Hendrix imitations provide the essential meat of the song." He added, "Eddie Vedder's vocal is alternately intense and achingly wistful, with the latter particularly suiting the song's mood." He proclaimed "Yellow Ledbetter" as "the sound of a band overflowing with prime material."[12] Will Hermes of Spin said, "The Hendrix-indebted power ballad "Yellow Ledbetter" is some of the best Pearl Jam music ever recorded."[13] In 2007, McCready's guitar solo from "Yellow Ledbetter" was featured on Guitar World's "100 Greatest Guitar Solos" list.

The first full live performance of "Yellow Ledbetter" occurred at the band's November 6, 1993 concert in Mesa, Arizona at the Mesa Amphitheatre.[16] "Yellow Ledbetter" is frequently performed at Pearl Jam concerts, generally as the last song of the concert. The freeform nature of the song allows Pearl Jam to improvise and change the song around when performing it live. During performances, McCready often lengthens the outro, sometimes incorporating various songs which have influenced his playing style, such as "Little Wing". Similarly, Vedder almost always changes the lyrics around, sticking with the same rhythm as the original recording.

i like the jimi hendrix style. and vedder's whiney kind of voice just adds to the aurgasm :D and did i say his stratocaster sounds like the sexiest thing alive? :D anyone knows what pedals mccready uses?

here's a live performance of yellow ledbetter + little wing
listen to the part where the solo of little wing comes in (around 5:42) i swear that is the best sounding guitar tone i've ever heard

what have i been doing all day today? sleeping throughout the entire afternoon and messing around with my guitar all evening. i even forgot to eat dinner x_x

friggin weird

i have a tracker installed on my blog and i recently looked through it.
there's this section where they show you the keywords people use on google to land on my blog...

some people search for really weird things man.

the more normal ones like "illumus", "vjc", "musicfest"
to the a little bit no link ones like "vjc student council", "vjc webmail", "mjc"
to the scarily stalkeristic ones like "ernest puey", "bryan hoe", "trey seah", "gordon bong"
and there's the very no link ones like "mjc floorball", "anglo chinese indep blog", "hwa chong floorball", "saint andrew blog"
and the really really WTF ones "pw sucks", "sajc pw results", "start school junior college posted to o level march 2008 blogspot"

HMM. weird

another weird thing happened is that i received an sms from an unknown number...
"Hi! Anyone wants guitar concert tickets or know anyone who's interested? BUY FROM ME AT ONLY $8 instead of $10!"
wth? i've checked already, it's not a guitar member's phone number so it's really really damn weird and looks like a scam.

HMM. weird

went to watch vball girls finals today at the puny yio chu kang indoor sports hall/stadium. nyjc freaking sent their entire school so we were owned in terms of cheering, cos they were simply too loud. somemore there were only 4-5 red shirts around there to lead. but anyway it doesn't make much diff. even if all the red shirts were there, it'll still be pathetic. somemore banner only hang one noob small banner. nothing compared to nyjc or hwachong man.

ate subway with suni and glen at amk hub. we all got cheated cos we thought the 5.90 offer thingy included every single sub. -_- we ate at the fountain/big area in amk hub and talked for 3 hours O_O from 3-6 -_-

it's funny that that's only my SECOND time in AMK hub. excluding going to the bus interchange or walking past amk hub to go somewhere else.

welcome back, myself!

oh hohoho so here i'm blogging again. i think i'm only a blogging spree.
not really but yeah 295th post! woohoo.

so what have i done for the past 3 days? let me try to summarise boringly.

friday:
went to andrew & grace home to scout the place cos we're organising some CIP to teach troubled teens microsoft office (DON'T LAUGH). two surprises. one: it's a GIRLS' home O_O two: they are more troubled than we actually think they are. but ah well, let's hope all goes well. then we bus-ed to paya lebar and mrt-ed to bugis area. wanted to sit down at a posh and high class place to discuss some stuff but we ended up at coffee bean in the new shopping mall (i think its called illuma) X_X
went to popular at bras basah complex and carrefour in suntec to get gifts for our J1 juniors :D ate subway for dinner with ryan i seriously don't want to do it again. made me feel gay.

saturday:
gymmed. first time doing bench press. kayfong act hero tried 20kg weights each side -_- in the end kena owned. i did max 17.5kg each side. reached home my muscle hurt like shit. and backache oh shucks i scared i gym injury sia. other than that, i slacked. didn't even do tutorial x_x

sunday:
went for first service. my eyes twitched like bulldogs on fire and cocaine. HMM must be because im really tired. rushed home after first service because i didn't want to stay back cos i got no friends T_T haha no la cos i was really tired. reached home watched heroes 20 all the way to 25 O_O and i totally forgot i was tired luh. zzz

so yeah. what a lousy summary.
oh yes, CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND! woot. but it was a really boring match with arsenal. yawn. and tevez is really emo. im quite emo too. i think fergie should sell the spoilt brat ronaldo, use the money to keep tevez and get frank ribena ribery!

...

im freaking pissed with myself. why am i so dumb. and lazy... had to skip 3 questions for planes tutorial because i didn't know how to do it, and i didn't copy the darn farraday law equation for electrochem. my grades are fail ESESE. my PW is B and my chinese is C. my T3A is not any better. bloody quit floorball, feel like some loser now when everyone of them are basking in the glory of the a div finals, and i feel unfit. shit. what the hell is wrong with me.

ok ok i shouldn't be dwelling on the past, but well my life sure is screwed. i really must prevent more screwups. better gym and run and get gold for napfa, mug my way to medical school.

argh i didn't plan to bitch about myself. ugh. i want to save up to get new headphones and a multi-efx pedal for my guitar. (lol, anti-climax)
